About Us
Welcome
We are delighted to welcome you to the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Teaching School Hub. We are committed to working in partnership with all Early Years providers, Primary, Secondary, Alternative Provision, Special Schools, Further and Higher Education providers and other stakeholders in our region.
We strongly believe that this Hub belongs to our schools, Trusts and our partners. We want every teacher, school leader and wider school staff to have the best professional development that they can. We are committed to providing this, through delivery partner providers, signposting and commissioning development opportunities where there are gaps in the region.
We have a long track record of working together in our area which has brought us to the creation of this Hub 2021. Integral to the success of the Hub will be the continuation of that approach and deepening our relationships with schools and Trusts in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
We work in partnership with other curriculum hubs in our region, research schools and other key stakeholders including Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex Teaching School Hubs, Local Authorities, Ely and Peterborough Dioceses, Anglia Ruskin University and Cambridge University.
We exist ultimately to support Cambridgeshire and Peterborough schools and Trusts in having the best professional development offer from the moment someone decides they want to train as a teacher and throughout their career.
Our priority Areas for 2023/2024:
- Implementation of the Early Career Framework for all new teachers
- Delivery of National Professional Qualifications for school leadership
- Providing Initial Teacher Training with our partner organisations locally
- Collaborative working with Curriculum Hubs, signposting opportunities
- Signposting wider CPD in our area for DfE approved and partner training programmes
What is a Teaching School Hub?
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Teaching School Hub programme is a DfE strategy dedicated to supporting teachers throughout their teaching career. It forms part of the implementation of the recruitment and retention strategy to raise teacher quality and effectiveness. Each Hub has a lead school or Trust who is responsible for the delivery of the Hub activities on behalf of their area. For Cambridgeshire and Peterborough it is Meridian Trust, ,the lead school is Brook Primary School at Histon and Impington.
A network of 87 centres of excellence for teacher training and development have been designated across the country, in order to provide high-quality professional development to teachers at all stages of their careers. This replaces the previous network of around 750 teaching schools, which ended in August 2021.
The idea of the Hub is that we act as the “hub” for the area, signposting schools, teachers, leaders and prospective teachers, to professional development at every stage from training to be a teacher, through to executive leadership. This is for all schools including Early Years, Primary, Secondary, Specialist and Alternative Provision along with all contexts of schools including faith schools.
As we said – this Hub belongs to you, so please do get in touch, and tell us what you need and want from us! We can be contacted using the contact details below.
